OUR ACTION

CLEAN UP SADO

Our activities are primarily focused on Sado Island, Niigata Prefecture. Sado Island is an iconic island that embodies Neo-Zipangu for REDLIST, and it also requires immediate environmental action. It is the habitat of the symbolic model for our brand, the “Red-crested Ibis,” and protecting its habitat is of great social significance for REDLIST. Furthermore, our founder, Hiro, is from Sado Island, and shining a spotlight on Japan’s declining regional cities and connecting his hometown to the next generation is also an important part of our activities.

Environmental Issues
on Sado Island

REMAINING150TON

Due to changes in ocean currents caused by global warming, more marine debris has been washing up on the coast. It is estimated that the total amount is about 300 tons annually, and the amount that can be remedied through governmental efforts is roughly half of that, at about 150 tons. Through the activities of REDLIST IMPACTS, 10tons have been collected per event. In addition, REDLIST PROJECT is seeking sponsors and supporters to collect the remaining 140 tons, and a portion of the profits from the project will be donated to this cause. * It is estimated that about 25 million yen is needed to collect 150 tons of garbage (based on hearings with Sado City administration).
